STATEMENT OF COUNSELING SERVICES
CDC is a community service oriented non-profit Corp. and is dedicated to helping consumers better understand financial and debt issues. CDC was established to help reduce the incidence of personal bankruptcy by assisting consumers with personal money management problems and assisting individuals and families who have financial problems via free counseling and/or debt consolidation.
We obtain information from a Client that enables us to identify the Client’s financial needs and financial problems. We will determine if CDC can assist the client to meet the need or resolve the problem, and, if applicable, design a counseling plan in relation to the need or problem.
We then initiate counseling or, at a minimum, refer the client to a community agency that might be able to assist the client. We have established working relationships with both private and public community resources to which we can refer clients who need help that CDC cannot offer. This Agency presently counsels individuals and families with overbearing financial problems. CDC works to educate the public to the uses and abuses of consumer credit and provides information to the public on budgeting, buying practices and the sound use of consumer credit through the use of texts, speakers and on-going free seminars. To improve the quality of renter and homeowner education we strive to provide counseling to consumers on seeking, financing, maintaining, renting, or owning a home. Consumer Debt Counselors does not report anything to any credit reporting agency. The financial counseling provided by Consumer Debt Counselors is FREE and CONFIDENTIAL and can be provided “in person” or by telephone. Consumer Debt Counselors provides financial counseling as a public service so that you, our client, can learn about options that may be available to help you face the financial issues in your life. Counseling can be obtained as frequently as is necessary. Generally speaking, the initial counseling session will require between 60 and 90 minutes and will examine any outstanding debts that you are dealing with, your monthly income and expenses, and your assets and liabilities.
